Preparation and Usage
Instant Custard Mix Make up Instructions
Custard Mix: 114g (4oz), Boiling water: 568ml (1pint), Portions†: 11
Custard Mix: 200g (7oz), Boiling water: 1 litre (1.7pints), Portions†: 20
Custard Mix: 1kg (2lb 3oz), Boiling water: 5 litres (26pints), Portions†: 100
†this pack makes 300 portions of 55ml (60g)
Water must be boiling hot for custard to thicken
1. Weigh out required amount of custard mix as per table above and place into a large enough bowl.
2. Pour boiling water onto the custard powder and mix with either a fork or whisk until smooth and creamy, ensuring all the powder at the bottom is mixed in.
Handy Hints & Tips
If you prefer your custard less thick then top up with boiling water.
For best results leave to stand for 1 minute before serving.
If put into a Bain Marie custard will thicken during service. You can add a little boiling water as necessary.
Flavour custard with cocoa powder for chocolate custard.
Stir brandy or rum into pre-prepared custard.
Use as a pouring custard over sponge, tarts and flans.
Use in trifles and fools or mixed with cream to make confectioner's custard.
