Bestway Group Opens New Branch In The North West

The Bestway Group has opened its 33rd Bestway branch at Aintree in the North West of England.

It is a new building on a brown field .3.5-acre site with 80,000 square feet of sales space. It cost £7 million to build and has created 60 new jobs. The building was officially opened on October 22nd 201.

The construction of the new building was achieved in a record building time as it took just 16 weeks from the very start of construction to opening.

Younus Sheikh, the Bestway wholesale group managing director said at the opening, “This is another great day for Bestway. Despite the general tough economic conditions, we are very proud to be opening this new branch in the North West and also to be able to bring much needed new jobs to this part of the country. We also like to think that this development will help introduce new organisations with new industry and business to this area.  “Our new branch will increase our customer profile beyond the immediate area around Liverpool, where we have had a branch since 1994, to provide a service for the independent retail trade in places like Aintree, Kirkby, Maghull, Ormskirk, Skelmersdale, Southport, Wigan and beyond.”

Modern technology has played a major part in the building with 10 percent of the energy requirement for the building coming from on-site renewable sources. This has been achieved by using a highly innovative method of taking heat from the outside and using it to heat the building and the amount of energy saved is greater than required by UK current legislation. Sophisticated lighting control systems have also been used, to maximize the benefit of natural daylight, giving further energy savings.

A racing theme was adopted to promote the opening of the new branch. On the first day of trading, customers were welcomed with the star appearance of Grand National winner, Amberley House. Bestway also sponsored a race at Aintree Racecourse on Sunday 24th October, during a Fun Day event, where the first 100 customers to the new branch were given free tickets to the racing event.

The general manager of the new branch is Mrs Trupti Patel, who transfers from the role of deputy manager of the Stockport branch. Mrs Patel joined the company as a graduate in 1993. Then following her role as a cashier, she has worked her way up through the management tiers in the Group to her present post. Her husband is in the retail world, as an independent retailer with two stores in the local area.
