Bestway Reward Performance to Staff and Suppliers

Bestway Cash and Carry group held its annual Bestway Performance Awards ceremony this week to recognise the contribution made to the group by both its staff and suppliers during 2009.

Bestway Cash and Carry group, the UK’s largest independent cash and carry operation held its annual Bestway Performance Awards ceremony this week to recognise the contribution made to the group by both its staff and suppliers during 2009. The awards were held at the prestigious Chancery Court Hotel in London.

The awards are held annually and are open to all of the 4000 staff across the Bestway group. There are twelve awards made to staff and two to suppliers recognising outstanding performance and achievement across all areas of the business Members of staff, including managers across the group, vote for colleagues who, in their eyes, have achieved the best results leading to an improvement in their all round performance and in the way the business is run. Suppliers to the group also contribute their votes.

For the two supplier awards, Bestway and Batley management teams and staff operating in all branches across England, Scotland and Wales nominate suppliers who have demonstrated the best attitude, support and service levels and demonstrated an innovative approach in managing the business relationship.

The top awards for 2009 went to:

Overall manager of the year
David Howe of the Batleys Edinburgh depot. £2000, trophy and certificate

Overall Depot of the year
Bestway, Croydon depot, collected by manager, Sohail Rana.  £3000 to the depot staff, trophy and certificate

Most innovative supplier of the year
Kelloggs. £1500, trophy and certificate, collected  by Jon Morley, national accounts manager

Supplier of the year
Diageo. £2500, trophy and certificate, collected by Nick Hill, national account manager

Zameer Choudrey, chief executive of the Bestway group said, “These awards have gained a reputation in our industry for recognising professionalism across the entire business.  Our staff are our backbone, and throughout the group, everyone continues to work hard, and some – those whose success we celebrate tonight – deserve special recognition. The award to the most innovative supplier, presented to Jon Morley, national accounts manager of Kelloggs, was proof of a highly successful working relationship between the two companies.

The supplier of the year award was voted on almost unanimously, and it went to Diageo for their across the board business relationship with all branches of the Bestway Group and was received Nick Hill, national accounts manager.

The 300 guests at the awards ceremony were entertained after dinner by comedian Jason Manford.
