Best served fresh every day - create new flavours simply by choosing your favourite ingredient. McDougalls suggest chocolate chips, fudge pieces, frozen fruits or nuts.

For over 150 years McDougalls has inspired caterers and we pride ourselves on offering practical advice and delicious recipes. Of course you could simplify our method, but to get the very best results, here are our make up instructions.
Make-Up Instructions
1. Add the correct amount of cold water and oil (or water only) to the mixing bowl and add the weighed out McDougalls Plain Muffin Mix.
2. Select the beater mixing attachment and blend on Slow for 2 minutes. Scrape down, then mix on Medium speed for a further 4 minutes.
3. Scale at 60g (2oz) into muffin cases. Allow the batter to rest for 15 minutes before placing in the oven. Bake in a preheated oven at 170°C/325°F/Gas Mark 3 for 20-25 minutes.
Useful hints and tips...
McDougalls Muffins can be made using oil & water or just water for a 'healthier' muffin. Check make up instructions on back of pack.
For ease of portioning, use either an ice cream scoop or a piping bag.
As a guide 10% to 15% of added ingredients are ideal.
By allowing the batter mix to rest before baking you get a more consistent cracking on the surface.
The baked muffins are freeze/thaw stable.
For best results once opened, keep bag tightly closed and use within 2 months.
