Since arriving in Australia in 1961, Wolf Blass has always used the image of the Eaglehawk as a source of pride and inspiration. In 1966 when he started building his own winery he named it Bilyara, the aboriginal word for Eaglehawk, and to this day the image of the Eaglehawk is synonymous with Wolf Blass wines around the world.
The Eaglehawk Chardonnay is a classic Australian example of the world's favourite white grape variety with generous fruit flavours and a soft, beautifully balanced palate. The flavours of peach and melon combined with a hint of supporting oak.
Wolf Blass AM - Founder.
Chardonnay - White Australian Wine
Colour - Pale straw
Nose - This wine displays classical Chardonnay aromas.
Palate - A fruit driven wine with nectarine and citrus flavours balanced by integrated oak.
When Wolf Blass bought his first vineyard in the Barossa, he was delighted to discover that its name 'Bilyara' was the aboriginal word for eaglehawk. This proud bird has become the image synonymous with the winery and its global success.
The purchase of Clare Valley's historic Quelltaler Winery in 1987 included some of Australia's oldest and most famous Riesling vineyards. A new range was developed to highlight the fruit sourced from these great vineyards, and Eaglehawk was born. The first wines released, from the 1987 vintage, were a Riesling and Fume Blanc.
Wolf Blass quality and flavour is evident throughout this range of fresh and approachable wines for everyday drinking. Sourced from many different vineyards in South Australia, the result is an excellent value wine made with vast expertise.
