The balance of boquet and unique flavors is derived from a blend of aged rums of between 6 and 23 years old. Originating from the "Sistema Solera" aging process. These mature rums have been produced only from the sweetest first-crush virgin Sugar Cane Honey. Ron Zacapa 23 is matured at an altitude of 2300 meters in selected barrels that previously aged robust American whiskeys, delicate sherries and fine Pedro Ximénez wines.
A traditional, dynamic aging process in which rums of different ages and personalities are blended. Then subsequently stored in selected barrels to continue the maturing process. This process is guided and repeated under the critical eye of the master blender until reaching the maturity and complexity of aromas and flavors that shape this unique premium rum.

Aged Above the Clouds
Zacapa Rum is aged in the cool air of the Guatemalan highlands. 2300 meters above sea level allowing the rum to mature more slowly in the barrels. Similar to cooking over a low flame, these conditions allow Zacapa to obtain exceptionally deep aromas, rich color and profound flavor.
Unique Sisteme Solera Blending
In the "Sistema Solera," art and tradition encourage the blending of rums of different ages and personalities so that they may continue to mature in select barrels. This dynamic and artisanal process culminates only after the complexity of aromas and flavors confirm that unique, mature rum has been created. Zacapa 23 is a unique balance resulting from the special blend of hand-select reserve rums aged between 6 and 23 years. Older and younger rums are blended as they age in a sequence of barrels that previously stored robust American whiskeys, delicate Sherries and fine Pedro Ximenez wines.
Virgin Sugar Cane Honey
The creation of Zacapa Rum begins with the use of virgin sugar cane honey which is made from the first pressing of the sugar cane unlike most rums which use molasses. There is no place better suited to grow sugar cane than Southern Guatemala, thanks to its mineral rich volcanic soil and the numerous rivers that nourish the area. The difference in raw materials is noticeable in the depth of the primary aromas and flavors of Zacapa.
Petate Weaving, A Handcraft Tradition
The women straw petate is a Mayan symbol for the unity of time and space and became a symbol of nobility in ancient times. The petate bands on each bottle are individually handmade by women from three villages descended from the Mayans. We are proud to honor our Guatemalan roots on each bottle of Zacapa.

Preparation and Usage
The perfect way to enjoy Zacapa is over one large ice cube, which melts imperceptibly. This returns the rum to the temperature at which it was aged, respecting its remarkable flavor.
