|History||Robust and red are the two qualities that define the wines of Raven Wood. At Ravenswood they use Old World wine making methods and try to keep every vineyard separate in the winery along with trying to capture the spirit of California's best growing regions. They strive to put what they pick from the field right into the bottle ‘unaltered, unapologetic, unfussy, unwimpy.' At Ravenswood “our goal is to exalt the grape, not overwhelm it.”|
|Regional Information||The Lodi region is characterized by warm days and cool nights with deep, sandy soils, forcing the vine's roots to push deep to find water and nutrients. The old vines that supply our Lodi Zinfandel typically are the first of our three County Zinfandels to be harvested. The warm days and early ripening lead to a soft and very fruit-driven Zinfandel.|
