For over 150 years McDougalls has inspired caterers and we pride ourselves on offering practical advice and delicious recipes. Of course you could simplify our method, but to get the very best results, here are our make up instructions.
1. Add the correct amount of cold water to the mixing bowl and add the weighted out McDougalls Premium Yorkshire Batter Mix.
2. Select the whisk mixing attachment and whisk on Slow speed for approx 30 seconds. Scrape down then whisk on Medium speed for a further 3 minutes until a creamy batter is formed.
3. Preheat oven to 200ºC/425ºF/Gas Mark 7. Grease Yorkshire pudding tins well with fat and heat until fat produces a blue haze. Pour batter into the hot tins and bake for 20-25 minutes. For fan assisted ovens heat oven to 200ºC/400ºF/Gas Mark 6.
Useful hints and tips...
For a more traditional, heavier Yorkshire Pudding decrease the water to 6.1 litres per 3.5kg bag.
For a traditional Yorkshire pudding with a dip centre add 1 x 5ml (1tsp) vegetable oil per 550ml (1pt) batter.
To make pancakes, follow instructions 1 & 2 for Yorkshire batter mix. Then cook pancakes in normal manner.
Both baked Yorkshire pudding & cooked pancakes are freeze thaw stable.
For a luxury pancake batter, add 15ml (1tbsp) melted butter to 550ml (1pt) of batter.
For best results, once the bag is opened, keep tightly closed and use within two months.
Makes 182 x 57 g portions
Store in a cool dry place. Keep bag tightly closed after part use.
