Bestway Aintree wins National Depot of the Year Award

Trupti Patel and her Aintree depot are celebrating today after scooping 'Depot of the Year 2013' at the Asian Trader of the Year Awards last night.

he Aintree branch impressed the judges with its environmentally friendly design which uses the latest technology to reduce emissions and running costs but it was Trupti who impressed more through her management of the business.

Richard Kellaway, Head of Wholesale, Symbols & Independents at sponsor JTI, who presented the award announced, “Bestway Aintree was opened in October 2010 and uses air source heat pumps to provide renewably sourced heating with nil gas consumption.  It’s just as well as Depot Manager Trupti Patel has turned up the heat on the competition by increasing sales each year. Sales are up over 10% in 2013 including impressive growth in tobacco, snacks and crisps, general grocery and an incredible 50% increase in fruit and vegetable sales. Trupti has led the way in building loyal support from both customers and suppliers in one of the most competitive regions in the UK.

Younus Sheikh, who also handed out an award to Sira Foods for the ‘Best Ethnic Food Retailer’ was proud of Trupti’s achievements. He said “It is a great achievement to win this award on a national platform against some stiff competition from other wholesalers. I congratulate Trupti and her team who really deserve to be honoured in this way. It is also important for the Bestway Group to be rewarded in front of many of our suppliers, demonstrating that Bestway and Batleys are doing the right things in depot and building business for the independents. I would now also like to urge all depot managers to follow Aintree’s success by offering best-in-class range, value and service to customers and receive the credit that they and their staff deserve.”
